If you are about to get married or recently got married, I would like to say congrats and welcome you and your spouse to a whole new world, a whole new life. Do you know why? Newlyweds are like fresh students who just got admission into a university. At first, you feel so happy that you have gotten the admission and that you have arrived. But when the courses starts, the assignments, seminars e.t.c, you then tend to dislike the university and can’t wait to graduate. The same applies to marriage.
The journey of marital life can be very rosy as partners are bound to make mistakes even if they’ve made commitment to each other till death on the altar. Understanding these mistakes made by newlyweds will afford you the opportunity of avoiding them if you plan on getting married soon. Trust me, marriage is the best union ever because it is based on trust, tolerance, understanding, sacrifice and God. Below are some avoidable mistakes made by newlyweds and tips on how to overcome them.

1. Failing to Plan for Life after Wedding

Most couples get carried away by the wedding plans, the wedding proper and other events attached to the wedding that they forget that all these ends in just one day. Some even put all their resources for the wedding forgetting that marital life starts after the wedding fun. After the wedding, you have to live together, tolerate each other and plan your family. Couples should always plan for life after the wedding even before the wedding because couples that fail to plan, plan to fail. Though make your wedding a memorable one but do not put all your resources for the wedding.

2. Not Understanding what Marriage is

Some couples do not understand what marriage is all about and just walk into it as If to think that marriage is a bed of roses or an avenue to enjoy each other. Marriage is far from it. Though, there would be times for enjoyment but there are also hard times which couples have to undergo. Many couples rush into marriage and later rush out from it. The ability of couples to be able to overcome hard times and challenges are what helps in solidifying marital relationship. Before you jump into marriage, seek advice from parents, priest, pastors, or an expert as the case may be to better understand the kind of life you are about to get into.

We are to covet the best gifts. When you desire the manifestations of the Spirit you will have them. God is not going to give you something that you don’t desire. How can you believe in healing when you don’t hear about it?

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:14
So then faith cometh by hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17
As we preach about the manifestations of the Holy Spirit you develop an interest in them. You begin to desire them. As your desire grows, they begin to manifest. I realize where the people have not been taught, they don’t have many miracles.
It is going to happen to you desire it. God is not going to give you something you don’t desire. God is not going to give you something you don’t even think about.
There are other demonstrations of the presence of the Holy Spirit apart from the listed manifestations in 1 Corinthians 12. These are not bunched together in one list and I call the “ the unlisted manifestations of the Holy Spirit”.

WHY PEOPLE FALL UNDER THE POWER
One of the commonest unlisted manifestations of the spirit and power of God is falling down. Falling down is often caused by the wine, the wind and the rain.
1. The Wine of the Spirit
The new wine is often seen as a type of the Holy Spirit. In the natural, over-indulging in wine can lead to falling, shaking and trembling!
For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh.. Acts 2:15-17
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Ephesians 5:18

2. The Wind of the Spirit
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and withered it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. John 3:8
The wind is known to pull down trees and even houses. The wind of the Spirit does the same. It is time to believe that these things are real. Do you remember when Jesus breathed on His disciples and said, “Receive ye the Holy Spirit?”
And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: John 20:22
Do you remember when the Holy Spirit came into the upper room as a mighty rushing wind? The Holy Spirit operates like a wind. Recently, at one of our miracles services, I was laying hands on all of the people who had come to the altar. One of my pastors later testified. He said, “As you approached me, a wind began to blow on me. It was a supernatural wind.” he marvelled, “The Holy Spirit is so real.”

3. The Rain of the Spirit
Rain is known to pull down trees and houses as well. Many people run from approaching rainstorms. God says He will come to us in the form of rain.
Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. Hosea 6:3

Eight Examples of Falling under the Power
All through the Bible, we see people falling under the power of God.
1. The falling of the priests at the dedication of the temple
It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying,
For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; SO THAT THE PRIESTS COULD NOT STAND TO MINISTER BY REASON OF THE CLOUD: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God. 2 Corinthians 5:13-14
The glory of the Lord at one time filled the temple so much so that the priests, the trumpeters and the musicians couldn’t stand anymore. They all went down because of the glory of the Lord. These things happen. They are real.
The glory of God can be manifested at different levels. It can come over you to a point where you cannot stand. You must pray to experience the power of God so much so that you cannot stand. I want to experience the glory of God. You should desire to get the place where these people did. When they were worshiping, the cloud of glory filled the place so much so that the trumpeters and the priests could not stand. It was not that they did not want to stand. They could not stand.!

2. The falling of the soldiers who arrested Jesus
Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he.
And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. As soon then as he had said unto them. I AM HE, THEY WENT BACKWARD, AND FELL TO THE GROUND. John 18:3-6
What happened as soon as Jesus said “I am He? The attackers went backwards and fell to the ground. Everybody fell under the anointing. There was no usher to support them there was nothing to protect them as they went backwards and fell down. Wow! You realize right there that the Holy Spirit was in action. That alone should have frightened the soldiers away.

3. The falling of the Apostles Paul’s entourage on the road to Damascus
Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?
I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.
And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.
Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests. At midday, O King, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shinning round about me and then which journeyed with me.
AND WHEN WE WERE ALL FALLEN TO THE EARTH, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? It is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. Acts 26:8-14
Paul described how he and his companions fell under the power on the road to Damascus. When Paul’s companions saw the light around them, they all fell to the ground. That was a manifestation of the Holy Spirit. When people fall under the power, everybody wonders if it is real. No matter how many times people see it happen they still watch and wonder. Sometimes you can see from the way people fall under the power that something unusual has happened to them. Some kind of power has struck them! I keep wondering about it myself even though I see it happen over and over again.
I remember I was speaking to a lady whom I had prayed for. Later, she told me what had happened to her when I was ministering to her. She described how she had fallen down during the ministration.
I asked her, “Do you normally fall under the power?”
She said , “I never fall, I am not the falling kind. “She thought that there were some types of people who were prone to fall under the power.
She continued, “I don’t fall but this time I fell and I fell again and again. I fell so many times and I did not know what was happening to me. I was completely powerless to control myself and stand on my feet. I simply could not stand when you touched me.
It is indeed a wonder. Falling under the power will make you wonder what is going on. Falling under the power is a sign and a wonder. People who fall under the power are not necessarily healed. When people fall, they may be healed or not healed. They just fall. It is a sign and it is a wonder! It is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit.

4. Balaam’s ass fell at the sight of the angel of the Lord
And when the ass saw the angel of the Lord, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff. Numbers 22:27
The falling of Balaam’s ass at the sight of the angel refutes allegations that when people fall under the power they are psychologically induced to do so. How could the donkey have been psychologically manipulated to fall down at a particular time? When the donkey came into contact with the spirit realm, he simply fell down. This is what happens to many people. They are not manipulated or psychologically caused to fall down! They just have a spiritual experience that makes them fall down.

5. Eli fell at the mention of the ark of the Lord
And it came to pas, when he made mention of the ark of God, that HE FELL FROM OFF THE SEAT backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years. 1 Samuel 4:18
This experience of falling down also does refute the allegation that if people are made to fall down by the Holy Spirit, they will not hurt themselves. Some people would say that if the power of the Holy Spirit makes someone fall down, the person should come to no harm. However, we have seen numerous cases of people falling under the power and getting hurt.
This is nothing new and Eli even died after falling under the power and breaking his neck. It is important to have good ushers to prevent people from getting hurt when they fall under the power.

6. Ezekiel fell at the sight of the glory of the Lord
As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.
And WHEN I SAW IT, I FELL upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake. Ezekiel 1:28

7. The Apostle John fell at the sight of the Lord
And WHEN I SAW HIM, I FELL at  his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last. Revelation 1:17
To “Fall as dead” means that Apostle John dropped to the ground suddenly. To “fall as dead”  is not a composed and dignified fall. To “fall as dead” means to collapse uncontrollably to the ground. When the power of God is moving, you will see many people fall to the ground as though they are dead.

8. Daniel fell as God spoke to him
So he came near where I stood: and WHEN HE CAME, I WAS AFRAID, AND FELL upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision. Daniel 8:17
Daniel also fell under the power when he came in contact with spiritual things. Daniel was a prime minister and he was highly placed in society. But he fell under the power when he came in contact with spiritual realities.
Dear friend, there is enough evidence in the Word of God for you to accept these manifestations of the Spirit. Ministers must flow in the reality of God’s power. Understand the Word of God and you will experience the richness in all that god has for us.

What is Nagging?
To nag, means "to irritate by constant scolding, complaining or urging."Nagging is something that most of us do and may not even realize that we’re doing it.  Someone that is nagging is continually complaining and finding fault with someone or something, whether it’s real or imagined.  They can be complaining on a consistent or persistent manner that is totally unrelenting and displaying a repetitious behavior in the form of pestering, harassing or otherwise continuously arguing with an individual about previously discussed requests or acts.  During the Middle Ages, a person who was accused of nagging would sometimes have to wear a Scold’s Bridle which was placed over the head and restricted the use of the mouth, so as to stop the nagging.  At that time, it was seen as sin but is nagging a sin?

The Old Testament on Nagging
Solomon wrote that “It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a quarrelsome wife” (Prov 21:9) and wrote, later in this same chapter, that “It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and fretful woman” (Prov 21:19) but it’s not just women who nag.  Men do the same thing but in different manners.  Since it is true that “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver” (Prov 25:11) then the opposite must also be true that a word not fitly spoken can be like a rotten apple sitting in a rusted container, as there’s nothing beautiful about unfit words coming at the wrong time.   Solomon compares a complaining person as being like a rainy day, as he wrote “A continual dripping on a rainy day and a quarrelsome wife are alike; to restrain her is to restrain the wind or to grasp oil in one’s right hand” (Prov 27:15-16) but as I wrote earlier, it’s not just women who nag.  It can be children nagging their parents, a spouse nagging their spouse, an employee nagging their employer.  The possibilities for nagging are as unlimited as the number of people there are in the world so we have to rid ourselves of the idea that it’s just women nagging their husbands.  It can be the other way around because everyone can nag at just about anyone over just about anything.

The New Testament on Nagging
The Apostle Peter, in writing to church leadership, wrote that the “shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock” (1 Pet 5:2-3).  In other words, pastors, elders, teachers, deacons, and any other church leader can nag those who they communicate with.  One way to solve the nagging problem is to take the Apostle Paul’s advice and “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear” (Eph 4:29).  Father’s nagging can provoke their children to wrath and discourage them. (Col 3:21) but fathers can also provoke them to anger (Eph 6:4).

Stopping the Nagging
When we are continually nagging someone, we can make them discouraged, angry, bitter, and force them to respond in a very UN-Christian way: so Paul would remind us all that we are to “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor” (Rom 12:10) and think about “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things” (Phil 4:8).  Just think of Jesus’ words, “And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them” (Luke 6:31).  To the church in general, the author of Hebrews writes that we are to “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you” (Heb 13:17). To nix the nag, we should be careful to “not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity” (1 Tim 5:1-2) and we should be “Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Eph 5:19-20) and not nagging one another.

Conclusion
Nagging only leads to arguments, discouragement, and anger so remember that words can hurt or they can help.  Words can tear down or they can build up.  Words can create anger or it can calm an angry person.  Proverbs 15:1 will always be true in that “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” and that includes nagging so the conclusion is that it’s “better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a quarrelsome wife” or quarrelsome husband (Prov 25:24).  What will you do with your words today?  Build up or tear down?
