3. Serve Joyfully
Service require strength and the scripture says the joy of
the Lord is our strength. If you must serve at all, you must do it
joyfully. If you murmur while serving your profit is automatically
cancelled. If you serve without joy, you will be punished. The scripture
says, "Because thou servest not... with joyfulness, therefore shall
thou serve thine enemies..."
The yoke of Jesus is easy, his burden is light. Even if you suffer in the pathway of service dont lose your joy.
Psalm 100:2a
Serve the Lord with gladness come before his presence with singing.
Service is a privilege. That you are a partaker should gladden your
heart. The disciples even after being beaten left the presence of the
council rejoicing.
4. Serve willingly.
Service rendered because of external presure is not acceptable. if you are forced to serve God, you have no reward.
I Chronicles 28:3
And thou Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind...
A willing mind is God's prerequisite in service. Service willingly
offered, provokes heaven and forces the host thereof to fight your
battle. The scripture says, the Lord avenged Israel, when the people
willingly offered themselves" (Judges 5:2)
5. Serve with Humility.
God resists (Fights) the proud, he cant accept their
service. If you use your talent or energy or money to serve God, dont
feel high. There is nothing you have that you have not received.
Luke 17:20
So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all
those things which are commanded you, say; we are unprofitable
servants. We have done that which was our duty to do.
You are not doing anything strange or new. Servants must serve.
Therefore let not your heart be lifted up. Honour accompanies service (John 12:26) but that honour could only be appropriated on the platform of humility for the scripture says "before honour is humility" (Proverbs 18:12)
6. Serve with fear
Psalm 2:1 Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling.
The type of fear here is holy fear. The fear that will
force you to put in your best without deceit; knowing that God cannot be
mocked.
7. Serve unto the end
You are not required to serve God, you must serve Him
continually. Those who have laid their hands on the plough are not
allowed to look back.
Zechariah 4:9
The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, his hands shall also finish it.
I Corinthians 15:58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord for as much as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
What you've started you must finish. If you do not serve
faithfully to the end your work will suffer loss. We are not judged by
how much things we are able to start, rather we will be assessed by how
much things we are able to finish. Crowns are given at the end of the
competition; medals are awarded only after the race. Those who stop
running in the middle of the race will have nothing to show for their
effort.
May you never labour in vain. Strive to make your service acceptable lest you sweat for nothing.
